The organization known as The Delta Sigma Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi was first formed on the campus of the then Arlington State College on May 2, 1961as REBSO (Rebel Band Service Organization) with the initial purpose of aiding the band by providing an organized corps of bandsmen to assist the director and provide such services as the students could render to the band. The original charter members of the organization were selected from the upperclassmen of the band by a ballot of the entire band. 

On March 15, 1964, the Delta Sigma Chapter was initiated into Kappa Kappa Psi by the members of the Gamma Sigma Chapter on the campus of Texas Christian University. The first president of the Chapter was Jerry Ray Barnes.
On becoming a national fraternity, the organization became more than just a service club. It still remained service-oriented, but the organization began to work toward a wider set of goals as put forth in the first article of the chapter constitution.

In recent years, the chapter has continued much of the work done in the past in efforts to promote the band, the school, and the fraternity.
